The game also keeps track of the playstyles of players who use the machine, which is used as fake opponents in the single-player Arcade Mode. One of the main additions of Tekken 5 is its unique arcade cabinet, adding optional controller ports for PS2 controllers and a dedicated card reader (named the IC Card System) that allows players to track their overall ranking while allowing them to customize the appearance of their linked character (by using 'gold' acquired from completing and winning matches). The fifth main installment in the Tekken series, Tekken 5 re-incorporates the series' traditional endless stages while adding some new techniques and gameplay changes (including the 'crush system', which affects the vulnerability of a character while they attack). It later received a minor update (dubbed Tekken 5.1) sometime in mid-2005 and received an enhanced re-release in late 2005 (as Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection).
Tekken 5 is a 3D fighting game developed and released by Namco for arcades (using PS2-based Namco System 256 hardware) on November 2004.
